Service to honor Thomas ministry

Victory Christian Center, 3899 McCartney Road, will honor Pastors David L. and Kathie Thomas at 6 p.m. Sunday for 40 years of full-time ministry.
Pastor David Thomas will be consecrated into the office of bishop by Bishop Joseph L. Garlington Sr. along with a council of bishops and apostolic and prophetic leaders.
“We are recognizing the gifts he is already using and acknowledging the office he has been effective in for quite some time. Our purpose is to officially establish what is already happening in David’s life and in the churches and ministries he oversees,” said Bishop Garlington, senior pastor of Covenant Church of Pittsburgh.
Others participating in the service will be Bishop Tommy Reed, Bishop Robert Sterns, Patrick Schatzline and the Rev. Al Yanno, presbyter of the Youngtown/Warren section of the Assemblies of God.
Pastor David Thomas left a position at General Motors in Lordstown in 1974 to enter into the ministry with the support of his wife. He was pastor at By Faith then became senior pastor of Victory Christian Center in 1978 at the first location at 15 Bedford Road in Lowellville.
In the 36 years under his leadership, the ministry has now grown to include eight campuses in Boardman, Coitsville, Columbiana, Liberty, New Castle, New Wilmington, Warren and Vienna, all which welcome more than 5,000 attendees each week.
Pastor Thomas is president of Victory School of Ministry and oversees the Next Level Leadership Network. He is co-founder of Legacy Leadership Network and serves on many national and international boards including Emerge Ministries (Akron), GNN (Atlanta), Remnant Ministries (Alabama) and Church of His Presence (John Kilpatrick, Alabama). Pastor Thomas is a founding member of the John Maxwell Team as a Certified Speaker, Trainer & Coach.
