STRUTHERS

Stephen Lind, 42, of Campbell surrendered to police Thursday morning after a warrant was issued for him Oct. 18 accusing him of faking an Ebola threat at the Save-a-Lot on Fifth Street.

According to court reports, Lind pleaded not guilty Thursday to inducing panic, and has a trial set at the Struthers Municipal Court at 10 a.m. Dec. 10.

Nick Mark, an assistant manager at the Fifth Street Save-a-Lot, said Lind, who was an employee, claimed he had contact with his neighbor who is “best friends with the female nurse from Texas” who contracted Ebola last month. Store employees said they were “horrified” and in a panic when Lind shared this information with them.

Doctors at St. Elizabeth Health Center reported the incident was a hoax after inspecting Lind that evening. Mark said Lind was fired from the store and is restricted from coming to the store. He added that Lind had been an employee for only one week.
