Man faces charges
BOARDMAN
Township police arrested Jordan Lukanec, 29, of Berlin Center on charges of assault and criminal damaging at 9:53 p.m. Thursday at the Buffalo Wild Wings at the Southern Park Mall, 7401 Market St.
Restaurant employees called police reporting a fight on the establishment’s patio. Employees told police Lukanec injured two customers in the fight and a patio table was broken. They said Lukanec left the scene in a Blue Honda CRV.
Police later arrested Lukanec on Market. He has a court date set for 5:30 p.m. next Thursday at Mahoning County Area Court here.
Gunfire exchanged
YOUNGSTOWN
Police reports said a Cincinnati man walking with his wife on a North Side street about 9:40 p.m. Thursday fired a shot at a man who fired a shotgun at him.
The 56-year-old told police he and his wife were walking on Bradley Avenue when he noticed three men behind him as they walked on several streets. When they got to the 400 block of Carlotta Avenue reports said one of the men disappeared and the man told his wife to run because he was afraid he was going to be robbed. The man pulled his 9 mm handgun and got behind a tree as one of the men following him also got behind a tree and fired a shot at him from a 12-gauge shotgun. The man returned fire with one round, and the person with the shotgun ran away.
The man told police he has a concealed-carry permit and it was confirmed, reports said. No one was injured.
Break-in probed

Police are looking for a man who stole more than $2,000 worth of cigarettes from the Giant Eagle at 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Police were notified there was a break-in at the grocery store.
Surveillance cameras showed that a white male about 50 years old stole 37 cigarette cartons and left the store about 5 a.m. Thursday. He left in a red Chevrolet Cobalt.
New trustees
CANTON
Malone University has welcomed two Mahoning Valley natives as trustees.
Charles Bancroft of Canfield and Eric Lund, a Boardman native, were among four new trustees introduced at the board’s fall meeting.
Bancroft graduated from Malone College in 1985 and from Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He is the owner/partner of the Crago Veterinary Clinic.
Lund graduated from Malone in 1991, and in 1994, he moved to Texas with a pharmaceutical company where he was employed. In 1997, he founded MedSource, a contract research organization that assists the pharmaceutical industry with the drug development process and cancer research.
