Reminder: African Children's Choir performs Thursday at Powers

YOUNGSTOWN — The African Children’s Choir will present a concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at Powers Auditorium downtown.

The choir, founded 30 years ago, is composed of children age 7 to 12 from several African nations, including Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana. Many of the children have lost one or both parents, and all of them are victims of extreme poverty.

The choir has released a number of recordings over the years and has performed at major events and venues around the world.

Tickets are $25 for VIP seating; $15 for general admission; and $5 for youths age 5 to 12.
