Police searching for these 3 after attempted ATM theft on Midlothian
BOARDMAN
Police continue looking for the three men who tried to steal an ATM machine from the Speedway on Midlothian Boulevard at 3:22 a.m. Friday.
Township police Chief Jack Nichols said officers responded to an alarm at the store, saw a van nearby, and engaged it in a low-speed chase through the Shirley Road area to Buckeye Circle on Youngstown’s South Side.
Two men in the van fled before the vehicle stopped. The driver jumped out a little farther down the road and also ran away. When the driver jumped out, the van bumped into a cruiser, causing damage to the taillight and tires.
Nichols said the van’s license plate revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen from Cleveland.
Detective Glenn Patton said the first two suspects who fled were both slim black males about 5 feet 10 inches to 6-foot tall. One man wore a gray sweatshirt, a black ski mask and gloves; the other man wore a gray-hooded sweatshirt, a black jacket, a black ski mask and gloves.
Patton said the third suspect, who fled near Loveland Road in Youngstown, is likely a 17- to 20-year-old male with a dark complexion, clean shaven and short black hair who measures 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall.
Patton said the suspects face about six felony charges and a misdemeanor charge. He added the incident might tie to one that happened on Oct. 27 in Liberty Township.
