Boardman boy found with hit list charged with inducing panic

BOARDMAN

A 12-year-old boy at St. Charles School has been charged with delinquency by way of inducing panic after he was accused of creating a “hit list” at the school.

The student’s case now will be handled by the juvenile court.

“We will continue to monitor the situation,” Boardman Police Chief Jack Nichols said.

St. Charles Principal Mary Welsh could not be reached for comment on the charge.

On Tuesday, the principal told The Vindicator it was necessary to get the police involved because of a threat to security. The list had eight names, none of them teachers.

Boardman police were called Monday afternoon after a student notified a teacher of the student with a homicide list. The student was suspended Monday.
