Authorities investigating NW Ohio plane crash

GROVER HILL, Ohio (AP) — Officials in northwest Ohio continue their investigation today of a small plane crash believed to have been fatal for all on board.

The Blade newspaper in Toledo reports the Paulding County Sheriff’s office confirmed that a crash involving a single-engine plane occurred about 6 p.m. Thursday in an open field near Grover Hill in Paulding.

A Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman says the plane was on approach to land about 23 miles away in Findlay.

Witnesses reported flames visible from the plane before it crashed in the field. The sheriff’s office says 911 callers reported a possible explosion.

Authorities said no one was transported to hospitals for injuries. The number of people on board was not immediately released, and the county coroner had been called.
