Warren man surrenders to police on robbery charge

WARREN — Steven Thomas Jr., who turned 18 on Oct. 21, surrendered to police Wednesday on an arrest warrant charging him with aggravated robbery.

The warrant accuses him of the Oct. 30 armed robbery of a cab driver on Southern Boulevard Southwest.

The driver said he went to the 600 block of Southern at about 10 p.m. to pick up a customer. Thomas walked from across the street and got into the cab.

While the driver was talking to him, Thomas pulled out a handgun and demanded the driver’s cash, which he received, then fled on foot, police said.

Thomas, of South Feederle Avenue, will be arraigned on the charge Friday in Warren Municipal Court. If convicted as charged, he could get 10 years in prison.
