Salvation Army begins its Red Kettle fundraising campaign
BOARDMAN — The financial goal for the Youngstown Salvation Army’s 2014 Red Kettle Campaign is $345,000.
Mahoning Valley residents will spot Salvation Army red kettles at area shopping centers from Friday through Christmas Eve.
The Red Kettle campaign raised $341,554.68 in 2013, said Major Elijah O. Kahn, area coordinator for Salvation Army Mahoning County Area Services, at the campaign kick-off breakfast today at Quaker Steak & Lube, 435 Boardman-Poland Road.
Last year, the SA raised the funds through the Red Kettles and a special sponsorship program where local businesses donate $1,000 to sponsor a kettle. This season, the organization is introducing a new program, “Online Red Kettle.” For information or to host an Online Red Kettle, visit www.onlineredkettle.org/northeastohiodivision
