The Lindsay Renea Dance Theatre will present “Celebrate Life,” a concert of various dance forms, including modern, tap and jazz, at 7 p.m. Nov. 22 at East High School auditorium, 474 Bennington Ave.
“Celebrate Life,” choreographed by Renea, is about all the good things in life, expressed through dance. It is the first major collaborative presentation of the LRDT.
Renea is an assistant dance professor at Youngstown State University and instructor of Afro- Caribbean dance at Ballet Western Reserve.
She is a 2004 graduate of Ursuline High School and a 2008 graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she majored in dance.
She was a member of Garth Fagan Dance Company for five years, where she became a principal dancer. Fagan is choreographer of Broadway’s “The Lion King.”
Randy Woods of Cleveland is the music director for the concert. His orchestra will include musicians from YSU and saxophonist John “JSaxx” Watkins of Cleveland.
Joselyn Parker will be the vocalist in the show and will deliver a chronology of legendary jazz and R&B artists.
