YOUNGSTOWN

A financial audit of Youngstown Community School by the Auditor of State Dave Yost’s office has returned a clean audit report.

Youngstown Community School’s recordkeeping has earned it the Auditor of State Award for the fourth- consecutive year.

The audit report does not contain any findings for recovery, material citations, significant deficiencies or questioned costs.

The school at 50 Essex St. has maintained financial stability through conservative spending during difficult economic times, according to the audit.

Work-study session

LOWELLVILLE

Coitsville Township trustees will have a work-study session at 9 a.m. today at the township administration building, 3711 McCartney Road.

Operation Gratitude

LEETONIA

The Leetonia High School Key Club will be collecting items on Veterans Day to be donated to Operation Gratitude, a program that seeks to lift spirits and meet the evolving needs of the active-duty and veteran communities.

Items needed include shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, bars of soap, body wash, disposable razors, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, new or gently used DVDs, CDs, video games or books, and handmade items such as blankets, personal thank-you notes and letters of support.

Boxes will be set up along the wall outside the high school and elementary principal’s offices at the Leetonia K-12 school campus, 450 Walnut St. Items can be dropped off in the boxes during school hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

March, vigil planned

YOUNGSTOWN

A march and candlelight vigil will take place at 7 p.m. next Thursday downtown to cast light on victims of violence within the transgender community.

Yo Trans, a local group that offers a platform for support, education and advocacy for transgendered people has organized the event to commemorate International Transgender Day of Remembrance. The group is made up of about a dozen transgender people and their allies.

Organizers say this is the first time a local group will participate in the event, and the public is welcome to attend.

The group will meet at 6:45 p.m. at McDonough Museum of Art, 525 Wick Ave. The march will end about 7:30 p.m. at Central Square, where speakers will read names of victims and light candles in their memory.
