Sateri Homes Inc., a provider of senior home care, day care and independent- living services, is closing two of its operations on U.S. Route 224 in Boardman.

Felix Savon, the owner, said he will be closing Sateri Homes locations at 102 Boardman-Canfield Road, and at 920 Boardman-Canfield Road, for financial reasons.

“I just can’t continue doing it,” Savon said, adding that the business hasn’t been profitable for at least 10 years — losing about $400,000 a year.

The two locations consisted of 30 residents and 25 to 30 employees, who were notified Monday, he said.

Savon said the company is working to find other facilities for its clients, but that is ultimately each client’s decision.

“We don’t make that decision [for them],” he said.

The two locations for Sateri Homes will close after all the transfers have been completed, he said.

“It saddens my heart to close because of my employees and residents,” Savon said.

Savon and his wife, Theresa, have been in the health care industry since the 1970s. He started Ron Joy Nursing Home, 830 Boardman-Canfield Road, in 1972.

In 1982, Savon added Sateri Homes.

Savon sold the Ron Joy business in 2011, which later became the Vista Center of Boardman, which provides rehabilitation, long-term care, assisted living and dementia care.

Savon said he will continue to operate his other business, the Boardman Medical Supply company, which provides an extensive inventory of home health care products and services and has locations throughout the Mahoning Valley including Boardman, Girard and Canton.
