Recycle those signs
YOUNGSTOWN
Now that the election is over, the Mahoning County Green Team (recycling division) is asking residents and candidates to gather their standard-sized metal and plastic election yard signs and take them to Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave., now through Nov. 15.
The signs should be stacked neatly against the fence next to the yellow recycling container in the parking area at Ridge and Oakhill avenues. They will be transported to area recycling facilities. For details, call 330-740-2060.
Traficant supporter carries on

Linda Kovachik, a longtime friend and supporter of the late ex-U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr., showed up at St. Luke Church in Boardman Tuesday night, the gathering place for many Mahoning County Democratic hopefuls and officeholders, wearing a button with a photograph of herself and the late Mahoning Valley politician. Kovachik was at the event supporting Susan Maruca, a candidate for Mahoning County Probate Court Judge. Maruca lost the race to Judge Robert Rusu, the independent candidate.
Rep. Gerberry begins his last term
AUSTINTOWN
With State Rep. Ronald V. Gerberry, D-59, winning his last election due to term limits, he remarked on some final goals he has during his last two years in the statehouse. Asked if he was going to celebrate after his win, he remarked: “I’m just about ready to go home and go to bed.”
Gerberry’s win Tuesday marked his 18th-straight election win.
Party faithful applaud

The Mahoning County Democratic Party faithful, who gathered Tuesday night at St. Luke Church, applauded and cheered each time one of their candidates entered the hall. People filed into the hall, many wearing T-shirts emblazoned with their candidates’ name for the festivities. A large contingent of safety green, the color of the shirts of Susan Maruca, an unsuccessful candidate for Mahoning County Probate Court judge, dotted the crowd.
