Police: Man used son to resist arrest at Cincy stadium

CINCINNATI (AP) — Police in southwest Ohio say a man used his son as a shield to resist arrest at a Cincinnati Bengals game.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports 35-year-old Nicholas Vitter was arrested Sunday during the Bengals home game at Paul Brown Stadium. Court records allege Vitter was intoxicated and refused to leave the stadium. Authorities say he used his underage son as a human shield to resist arrest and threatened to hurt an officer.

Vitter, of Felicity, pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of criminal trespassing, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. A Hamilton County judge ordered Vitter to stay away from the stadium.

A message was left Vitter’s attorney.

A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 20.
