Ohio voters pass 65 percent of school levies

COLUMBUS (AP) — Voters in Ohio have passed nearly 65 percent of school levies on ballots across the state.

The Ohio School Boards Association says voters passed 105 of the 163 school funding issues in Ohio on Tuesday.

The association’s legislative director Damon Asbury says it’s one the highest total passage rates in recent years. He says that’s likely because of the large number of renewal issues and relatively few requests for new tax dollars.

Out of 92 school levy renewals, 84 passed. Requests for new funds weren’t as successful, with 21 of 71 issues passing.

Asbury says school issues seeking new money typically see lower approval rates.
