The Youngstown Maker City, a local grass-roots effort to raise awareness of 3-D printing, will participate in the Youngstown Phantom’s “Hockey for Health” games today and Dec. 3.
The Phantoms will host approximately 1,000 students for special 10:30 a.m. hockey games on each date, with lobby displays, time-out promotions and announcements, and between-period events to encourage students to focus on nutrition, physical activity, citizenship, finance and education.
America Makes member Inventor Cloud and the Youngstown Business Incubator will host lobby displays featuring 3-D printing.
Bistro opens for lunch hours
CANFIELD
The student-operated restaurant The Bistro at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road, opened for lunch hours to the public Tuesday.
The Bistro will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays for dine-in or carryout through the winter.
The Bistro is run by students enrolled in the Culinary Arts Program at MCCTC. This gives students the chance to gain experience in all facets of working in the restaurant industry, from working as kitchen staff and the sous chef to waiting tables and hosting.
Kroger workers approve contract
CHARLESTON, W.Va.
Union workers at Kroger stores in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia have ratified a new three-year contract.
United Food & Commercial Workers Local 400 said in a news release that the contract includes wage increases and preserves workers’ health and retirement benefits.
Workers’ health care premiums won’t increase.
