Home-health scams
NILES
The Area Agency on Aging 11 Inc. issued a consumer alert about impostors posing as home-health workers in order to gain access to people’s homes.
The agency was notified Tuesday by a care manager and provider after someone tried to gain access to a Mahoning County residence by posing as a replacement for the regular aide.
The female resident, suspicious because it was not the correct time, called the provider to check out the story and was told no one was filling in for the aide.
“If an unfamiliar person comes to your door claiming to be a home-health worker, do not let the person inside and immediately call 911,” said Lisa Solley, chief of Community Relations, Wellness and Training.
