Indicted Democrat Auditor Sciortino upset by newcomer Republican Meacham

YOUNGSTOWN

With 100 percent of the vote counted in Mahoning County, incumbent Democratic Auditor Michael V. Sciortino, facing a political corruption indictment, was unseated by Republican Ralph Meacham.

Meacham beat Sciortino by nearly 4 percentage points.

Also, county Probate Court Judge Robert Rusu beat Susan Maruca by 2.3 percentage points.

The county's 0.75 percent sales tax narrowly won by 1.9 percentage points, while county levies for Children Services and the library system were overwhelmingly supported by voters.
