ELECTION UPDATE | Mahoning County voters approve Children Services levy

YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning County voters have approved the 1.85-mill, five-year levy the Mahoning County Children Services board asked for, with 63 percent of voters in favor of the levy and 37 percent against it.

The levy combines and replaces existing 1-mill and 0.85-mill levies, to raise about $2.8 million more per year than those levies currently generate.

The new levy will raise more than $7.3 million annually for the child welfare agency, at a cost of $64.75 to the owner of a $100,000 home.
