AAA11: Beware of people posing as home health workers

NILES — The Area Agency on Aging 11 Inc. issued a consumer alert about imposters posing as home health workers in order to gain access to people’s homes.

The agency was notified today by a care manager and provider after someone tried to gain access to a Mahoning County residence’s home by posing as a replacement for the regular aide.

The female resident was suspicious because it was not the correct time, and called the provider to check out the story. She was told this wasn’t true and no one was filling in for the aide.

“If an unfamiliar person comes to your door claiming to be a home health worker, do not let the person inside, and immediately call 911,” said Lisa Solley, chief of Community Relations, Wellness and Training.

People who prey on others are becoming very smart and using high-tech equipment, Solley said. The car used by the imposter had signing indicating the name of the provider agency.
