20,000 baby chickens die in barn fire


LEBANON, Pa. (AP) — Firefighters say about 20,000 baby chickens have died in a barn fire.

WHP-TV reports fire broke out around 12:30 a.m. today quickly spread through the North Cornwall Township barn, causing it to collapse.

No injuries to firefighters were reported.

Officials estimated damage at $500,000. They say the chicks were about five weeks old.
