Wellsville to remain in playoffs

Wellsville will be allowed to remain in the Ohio high school football playoffs, the Ohio High School Athletic Association ruled on Monday.

Here is the statement from the OHSAA, which was emailed to media outlets on Monday afternoon: “After concluding its investigation, the OHSAA will not invoke forfeitures in football from Wellsville High School. The school will remain in the playoffs as scheduled. An eligibility matter was discovered and the school will be reprimanded and fined accordingly, but forfeitures will not be a part of the sanction.”

The Tigers (7-3) earned the fifth seed in Division VII, Region 23 and will play at Ashland Mapleton on Saturday.
