Gun threat resolved in Weathersfield
WEATHERSFIELD
Weathersfield Township Police Department was contacted Sunday morning by Weathersfield Local Schools regarding a possible threat of a student bringing a weapon to the high school today.
Township police saidon its Facebook page that contact was made with the purported suspect and no weapons were found. During its investigation, township police determined it was an isolated threat and that the student suspect will not return to school until the investigation is complete.
At this time, police said they believe the threat has been resolved. But, out of an abundance of caution for the safety and comfort of students, faculty and parents, an increased police presence will be at the schools today.
Transgender son’s mom to give address

Youngstown Area PFLAG, Parents, Families and Allies with LGBT People to Move Equality Forward, will welcome speaker Debra Flint for a free event from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 11 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave.
Flint is a licensed clinical social worker in private practice, an ordained clergy person in the United Methodist Church, and mother to a transgender son. She is one of the founders of the Jane Street Foundation, an organization that provides education, outreach and hospitality to transgender individuals and those who love them to find their authentic voice. Flint will speak about her experience standing alongside her son as he transformed into the man he always knew he was.

Zoning open house

Zoning Inspector Sarah Gartland will host an open house in the Boardman Township Zoning Office, 8299 Market St., from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 12 and 13. Residents and local business owners are encouraged to attend to learn about how zoning affects them and to offer comment.
