Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer guardianship program of Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers. Angel volunteers receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home, or a visit at home. Angels also are involved in planning special events for seniors such as health fairs and Make a Difference Day projects. Niles S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center, 14 E. State St., 330-544-3676, has planned the following: tai chi for seniors Thursdays at 10 a.m. Regular practice of tai chi can improve flexibility, balance and coordination. The class is led by professional instructor Mark Pringle and is $5 for a one-hour class. Enrollment is open and participants can start at any time. Membership is not required. For information call or visit the center. Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. will be a Quilt Show. Finished quilts will be on display and quilters will be on hand to demonstrate their craft. Handmade items also will be available for sale. A free lunch will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Quilters will answer sewing questions and help with unfinished projects. A basket will be raffled. There is no admission charge. Call for information. Dec. 4 there will be a trip to Das Dutch Haus Dinner Theater. Travel will be by motor coach to Columbiana to see “Just Give ’Em The News,” about the first Christmas. The cost is $68 and includes transportation from Niles, a sit-down dinner and the musical show by Ted & Company. There will be about one hour of shopping time at Das Dutch Village before the show.
