The Youngstown SCORE chapter will host a “Financing and Marketing Your Business” workshop at the Williamson College of Business at Youngstown State University from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The seminar will focus on the following topics including: Your Business Plan, Projections, Profit and Loss, and Marketing with No Money.
A financial roundtable of businesses, bankers and SCORE counselors will follow. Presenters include: Jack Kravitz from Kravitz Deli, Todd Franko from The Vindicator, Mario Nero from Mahoning Valley Economic Development Corp., Dianne Hogg and Amanda Frost with Charter One and SCORE counselors.
SOUP project ideas
WARREN
Warren SOUP, micro-granting dinners that fund projects, will take place at 6 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Mahoning Valley Hope Center, 3217 Surrey Road SE.
Admission is $5. The deadline is Friday for submissions to present project ideas at the SOUP.
Four groups will be selected to present at SOUP for four minutes each. SOUP-goers will vote on their favorite project, and the winner gets all the proceeds from admissions. SOUP is open to any individual, group or organization that has a project idea that will benefit the Warren community.
Breakfast workshop

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber is working with Youngstown State University and other area educational institutions for a breakfast information and recruitment workshop from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at YSU’s Williamson College of Business Administration’s Conference Center.
Employers can learn more about internship/ co-op programs. Each of the educational institutions has students from various disciplines for internships/co-ops in such areas as machining, welding, engineering, computer technology and business.

The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology will offer specials on memberships on Black Friday starting at 9 a.m. The first at the door will receive a five-person membership for free. Between 9 and 10 a.m., a 50 percent discount will be offered for memberships including renewals. A 25 percent discount is offered for the remainder of the day. All day deals include a 15 percent discount on souvenirs for members (10 percent for nonmembers).
Holiday open house
Canfield
Something New, a floral shop at 4500 Boardman- Canfield Road, will have its Christmas Open House from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. next Sunday.
The company will open its showroom for a stroll through a “Something New Christmas Wonderland.” Christmas merchandise will be on display.
