Information on special services for Thanksgiving will be published Nov. 22 on the Religion page. Send complete church name, street address and city, time and date of service. Thanksgiving Day is Nov. 27.

Retreat at shrine

NORTH JACKSON

The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, 2759 N. Lipkey Road, will conduct a mini-retreat Sunday with guest speaker Eric Mahl, who will give two inspirational talks.

The rosary will be at 1:30 p.m.; the first talk at 2 on “Mercy and Mary in My Life;” 2:45, refreshments; 3:30, second talk on “Transformation in Christ; Jesus Model of Mercy, Jesus Son of Mary;” 4:30 p.m., confession and 5, liturgy. Cost is $7. Call 330-538-3351.

For All Souls

Services are planned in observance of All Souls Day on Sunday.

Opening prayers will be at 1:45 p.m. and services at 2 p.m. at All Souls Cemetery, 3823 Hoagland-Blackstub Road, Cortland; Calvary Cemetery, 248 S. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown; and Resurrection Cemetery, 300 N. Raccoon Road, Austintown.

Mass will be at 2 p.m. Sunday followed by refreshments at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, 3900 Villa Marie Road, Lowellville.

Night of reflection

GIRARD

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Youngstown Ohio Stake will host a night of music and reflection on the restoration and historical events in the Kirtland area at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Youngstown Chapel, 2205 Tibbetts-Wick Road.

Speaker will be Elder Michael Vellinga, president of Ohio Cleveland Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will talk about the church that Jesus Christ established during his earthly ministry and how it has been restored in its fullness in these latter days. The public is invited.

Vellinga and his wife, Pamela, who serves with him, are from Clinton, Utah.

Quartet at church

CORTLAND

Mercy River Quartet of Massillon will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Bible Church, 2878 Warren Meadville Road.

Quartet members are Gary Price, Craig Mulpas, Chris Mulpas and Jeff Lowe.

This is the last concert for 2014 at the church. A nursery will be provided. A free-will offering will be accepted.

On anointing

AUSTINTOWN

Jason Pangio will be ministering on “The Prophetic Anointing” Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. at Abundant Harvest World Outreach Center, 104 Idlewood Drive.

He is an anointed teacher on the Bible.

Lecture on love

YOUNGSTOWN

Dr. Thomas Jay Oord, professor at Northwestern Nazarene University, Nampa, Idaho, will address the topic “Can We Love Without God?” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University. He is a theologian.

The lecture is free and open to the public, but registration is required at www.oord.eventbrite.com.
