YOUNGSTOWN

Sixteen people became U.S. citizens in a Thursday naturalization ceremony before Judge Shirley J. Christian of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

The new citizens, their hometowns and countries of origin are: Nicholas Martuccio, Austintown, Italy; Karen Ann Esterly, Boardman, United Kingdom; Mildred Musuka and Oliver Tangayi Musuka, both Boardman, both Zimbabwe; Jose Luis Castillo, Austintown, Mexico; Yaqin Wang, Canfield, People’s Republic of China; Chaudhry Muhammad Bashir and Ali Raza, both Boardman, both Pakistan; Despina Ioannis Velonis, Campbell, Greece; Elham Ghayouri Azar and Farhad Fakhrejahani, both Youngstown, both Iran; Inderjit Rangamohan, Karan Venkata Eunni, Rangamohan Venkata Eunni, and Swarnjit Kaur Grewal, all Canfield, all India; and Patricia Isabelle Miclat Black, Poland, Philippines.

Adoption event

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning County Children Services Board will conduct its observance of adoption month from 10 a.m. to noon Monday in the county domestic relations courtroom on the fourth floor of the county courthouse, 120 Market St.

Judge Robert N. Rusu Jr. of the county probate court will conduct two adoption-finalization hearings.

Representatives of local adoption agencies will be present.

Memorial service

The Trumbull County Bar Association had its annual memorial service at the Trumbull County Courthouse this week for members of the bar association who died in the past year.

Those remembered were Lynn B. Griffith Jr., who served as Trumbull County prosecutor, Trumbull County Common Pleas Court judge and Warren Municipal Court judge; William G. Cauffield; Michael G. Mirando; Paul E. Heltzel, Trumbull County commissioner; William P. McLain, longtime Warren law director; and Donald L. Guarnieri.

Pizza driver robbed

YOUNGSTOWN

A pizza-delivery driver was robbed of his pizza with bacon and a bottle of pop but no money by a man with a handgun about 11:25 p.m. Thursday on the North Side.

The driver, who works for the Pizza Hut on Belmont Avenue, told police he was making a delivery to a home in the 2300 block of Ohio Avenue when the homeowner went inside to get change and two masked men, one armed, emerged and took the pizza and pop and ran away.

Fall workshop

Monday is the deadline to register for Help Hotline Crisis Center’s annual fall workshop which is Wednesday at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center, 7440 South Ave.

The keynote speaker for the event, titled “From Combat, to Campus, to Career,” is Bryan Adams, an Iraq War veteran and a Purple Heart recipient.

The cost is $30 per person. Registration for the workshop is at 11 a.m., and lunch is at 11:30 a.m. The program is from 12:10 to 2:30 p.m. To make a reservation, call Help Hotline at 330-747-5111. Checks should be made payable to Help Hotline. Continuing-education credits are available.

Also on the agenda will be Carolyn Givens, Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation executive director; Thom Craig, director of mental-health programs for the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation of Hudson; and Tracy Plouck, director of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
