Ursuline Sisters to install new leadership team

The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown will celebrate the installation of a new leadership team during Mass at noon Sunday at the Ursuline Motherhouse chapel, 4250 Shields Road.

Sister Mary McCormick will be installed as the 21st general superior. Her councilors are Sisters Regina Rogers, Patricia McNicholas and Norma Raupple. The new team will serve until 2020.

The Ursuline Sisters will celebrate 140 years of ministry in the Mahoning Valley in September.

Sister Mary ministers as a seminary professor specializing in systematic theology and as an academic dean at St. Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology in Cleveland. She has served on St. Mary’s faculty since 1997.

She also was an instructor at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Louisville and Ursuline High School,

Most recently, Sister Mary served as finance director for the Ursulines and the leadership team and as formation and vocations director.

Sister Mary has a doctorate in systematic theology from Fordham University, Bronx, N.Y.; a master of religious education from Loyola University in New Orleans; a master of arts in theology from Duquesne University; and a bachelor’s in education Youngstown State University. She also holds several professional certifications.

An Austintown native, Sister Mary graduated from Ursuline High and became a nun in 1975.

Sister Regina ministers as assistant principal and member of the religious education staff at Ursuline High and is an adjunct instructor at YSU.

She taught at St. Patrick School in Youngstown and was director of religious education at St. Joseph Parish in Canton.

She is a past general superior.

She has a master of science in administration from the University of Notre Dame, a master of arts in religious studies from the Catholic University of America and a bachelor’s in education from YSU and professional certifications.

Sister Regina has served on the boards of many local and national-based organizations and is a regular volunteer at the Dorothy Day House in Youngstown.

A Poland native, she graduated from Poland Seminary High School and became a nun in 1967.

Sister Patricia is senior development officer for Beatitude House, Youngstown, where she most recently served as executive director.

Her prior ministries include teaching at St. Charles School in Boardman, St. Nicholas School in Struthers and at Ursuline and Cardinal Mooney high schools, Youngstown. She also has served in the Youngstown Diocese department of religious education and as director of Potter’s Wheel, the educational arm of Beatitude House.

Sister Patricia is a past general superior and served the community in other offices.

She has a doctorate in ministry from the United Theological Seminary, Dayton, a master of science in administration from the University of Notre Dame, a master of arts in religious education from Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., and a bachelor’s in education from YSU. She holds several professional certifications.

Sister Patricia has served on the boards of local and national-based organizations, including Leadership Youngstown and Catholic Charities. She is on the board of trustees for Eastern Gateway Community College, Youngstown.

A Youngstown native, Sister Patricia graduated from Cardinal Mooney and became a nun in 1961.

Sister Norma ministers as vocation and young adult outreach director for the Ursulines and as Hispanic outreach/education coordinator for Beatitude House.

She also was a teacher at St. Nicholas School, St. Rose School, Girard, and Cardinal Mooney. Sister Norma also has served as director of religious education for St. Vincent DePaul Church, Vienna, St. Jude Church, Columbiana, Immaculate Conception Church, Youngstown.

Sister Norma served on the leadership team from 2006-14 and also was formation director.

Sister Norma has a master of arts in religious education from Boston College and a bachelor’s in education from YSU and professional certifications.

A Boardman native, she graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School and became an Ursuline in 1964.
