Gardner finishes fourth in state tennis tournament


— Poland senior Garrett Gardner placed fourth in the Division II state tennis tournament today after losing the third-place singles match to Lexington's Mason Dragos, 6-2, 7-6 (7-1).

Gardner won twice on Friday to reach today's semifinals. He lost to defending state champion Asher Hirsch of Cincinnati Country Day, 6-3, 6-1, this morning, setting up the third-place match with Dragos.

Gardner finishes his high school career as a three-time state qualifier, including the last two years in singles. He has committed to attend Valparaiso University and play tennis for the Crusaders.
