Staff report

CANFIELD

The Friends of Scouting steering committee of the Whispering Pines District, Greater Western Reserve Council of the Boy Scouts of America will host its ninth annual “Friends of Scouting” fundraising breakfast Tuesday at Camp Stambaugh dining hall, 3712 Leffingwell Road.

Breakfast will be served from 7:15 to 7:45 a.m. and a program and speakers will follow from 7:45 to 8:45.

The FOS committee hopes to raise needed funds to be used to maintain programs in the district, provide repairs and improvements at Boy Scout camps and support Scouts in need of financial support who will develop as local role models and leaders.

The breakfast also will be a memorial tribute to three great district Scouters who, combined, spent more than 150 years involved in the Scouting program as youths as well as leaders.

Guest speakers will include Eagle Scout Alek Ball; Jason Wolf, Scout executive of the Greater Western Reserve Council, who will deliver a state of the council report; and Wanda Clark, principal of Youngstown’s Williamson Elementary School, who will discuss Scouting’s Scoutreach program in her school.
