Youngstown firefighters battle vacant home blazes

YOUNGSTOWN — Firefighters battled blazes at two vacant houses late Thursday and early this morning.

Crews were called to a 16 Zents Ave. home about 10:55 p.m. and found a fire in the second-floor ceiling, reports said. Damage is listed at $1,000. Reports noted a demolition form for the house was filled out last year.

Just before 4 a.m. today, crews were called to 1801 McGuffey Road, where they found a heavy fire on the first floor. Firefighters were deployed to protect surrounding properties because the home was already severely damaged, reports said.

Damage there is listed at $3,800. There were no injuries.
