Fire causes $6,100 damage to South Side home

YOUNGSTOWN — Investigators are looking for the cause of a fire that caused $6,100 damage to a 240 Hilton Ave. home just before 7 a.m. today.

A woman who lives there told firefighters she left for work with her boyfriend at 4:30 a.m. and when she returned she saw smoke when she unlocked the door and found a back window broken out, reports said.

She got her dog out of the basement and called 911, reports said. Reports said her boyfriend told firefighters his television was missing but he refused to speak to police who were called to the scene. No one was injured.
