The township and its police department have settled new union contracts, township administrator Pat Ungaro confirmed.

There are tentative agreements with the department’s captains and sergeants and with the department’s patrol officers, Ungaro said Wednesday.

Talks began late last year and concluded earlier this month, he said. The agreements are not yet signed.

Both unions are represented by the The Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association.

The township now has successfully negotiated new three-year contracts with its police, fire and road departments.

Like the road and fire contracts before them, both police contracts give 4-percent raises in the first year and no raises in the second and third.

They raise the amount of co-pay for health benefits from 10 to 12 percent.

Under their present contract, sergeants make $27.45 an hour, and captains make $31.71.

Under their present contract, patrol officers have a wage range of $14.98 per hour for a probationary officer to $17.44 after one year to $24.92 in step four of the contract. There also is a shift differential of 20 cents an hour for afternoon shift and 30 cents an hour for midnight shift.
