Former Mental Health Board Director Ronald Marian recognized

Several awards recently were presented at the Mahoning County Mental Health Board’s annual “May is Mental Health Month” banquet at the Tippecanoe Country Club.

Also, Ronald Marian, former mental health board executive director, was recognized, and Duane Piccirilli, the board’s new director effective Tuesday, was introduced.

The 2014 Vanguard Award recipient was Robert Altman, Help Hotline Crisis Center program, who was recognized for the many roles he has assumed within the mental-health system since 1985.

The 2014 Eagle Award was presented to Christine Flak of Turning Point Counseling, who has been with the mental-health system since 1995. She began as a case manager, became a therapist with a case load of approximately 180 clients, and then returned to a case management position.

Crisis Intervention Officer Awards were given to two Youngstown Police Department officers — Richard Baldwin and David Wilson — who graduated from the Mahoning County Mental Health Board Crisis Intervention Training class.
