Fire causes $6K damage to South Side hoime

YOUNGSTOWN — A fire at a 1001 Glenwood Ave. home on the South Side caused about $6,000 in damage Wednesday.

Crews were called to the home about 3:30 p.m. after an off-duty firefighter passing by saw the home on fire. The flames were contained to a back bedroom, reports said.

The occupants told investigators they are in the process of moving out of the home, reports said. Reports said a space heater in that room appears to have started the fire, and the occupants said the plug it was plugged into has been sparking and popping. No one was injured.
