Body found in downtown Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are awaiting autopsy results to determine if the death of a homeless man whose body was found late Wednesday evening is a homicide.

James Syster, 55, was found just after 10 p.m. behind the parking lot at Front and Hazel streets.

Chief of Detectives Capt. Brad Blackburn said Syster had abrasions on his face, but witnesses told investigators he was seen earlier in the day with those bruises.

Blackburn said there were no obvious signs of foul play.

The area is one where homeless people downtown are known to congregate.
