June 11 is a big day for the city’s youths as it’s the first day of Youngstown’s summer OHAB102 day-camp program and the opening of the North Side Pool.

The city’s Park and Recreation Department offers the camp at no cost to children age 5 to 17. The camp runs through Aug. 6 at seven park locations:

Crandall Park, 400 Redondo Road.

Lynn Park, 140 Lynn Ave.

Glenwood Park, 2538 Glenwood Ave.

Homestead Park, 829 E. Dewey Ave.

MVSD Park, 180 N. Dunlap Ave.

John White Park, 2300 Kimmel Ave.

Wick Park, 260 Park Ave.

Camp opens at 10 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. weekdays.

Pre-registration will take place at Crandall and Homestead from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to June 5. Also, once camp starts, parents can register their children on site. General demographic and medical information along with the child’s Social Security number are needed to complete the registration process.

Also, the North Side Pool will open June 11. The pool will be open from 1 to 8 p.m. every day.

The Park and Recreation Department was to start filling the pool today as well as clean it and get it prepared for its opening, said Robert Burke, its director.
