Bass Classic is Saturday at Evans, Pine lakes

POLAND

The 15th annual Muransky Companies Bass Classic, hosted by Aqua Ohio and benefiting the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley, will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Evans and Pine lakes.

Teams of professional bass anglers and their amateur partners will compete for cash and prizes on the bass-filled reservoirs. The 2014 Bass Classic has one of the largest fields in the tournament’s history.

The competition pairs top pros with amateur anglers who make a donation to the United Way. For many of the amateurs, it is the best opportunity to fish from a tournament-rigged bass boat operated by an experienced angler who will share the ins-and-outs of bass fishing.

Prizes will be awarded for total weight and big bass after the tournament weigh-in about 2 p.m.

While the amateur and professional fishermen are on the water, children will be invited to a Fish and Fun event at Evans Lake from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The first 200 children age 12 and younger at the event will receive food, goodie bags and fishing gear donated by Fin, Feather & Fur Outfitters.
