South Side stabbing

YOUNGSTOWN

A person was stabbed on the city’s South Side and a woman was taken into custody, according to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

The stabbing occurred about 9 p.m. Sunday on South Avenue. A woman was taken by police in handcuffs from an East Lucius Avenue location, according to 21.

No information on the incident or the names of the victim or suspect were available late Sunday.

Book donations sought

Tenth-grade Honors English students at Canfield High School are collecting new or gently used books for ages up to 18 and blank CDs for Akron Children’s Hospital.

All Canfield schools are accepting donations through Thursday.

Farm bureau event

CANFIELD

The Mahoning County Farm Bureau will have an open house, open to all Mahoning County Farm Bureau members, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. June 3 at Mill Creek MetroParks Farm, 7574 Columbiana Canfield Road.

With the recently completed Lunch and Learn Series with OSU Extension and an educational series the first Friday of the month from December through May, the bureau is offering a “thank you” to guests and participants in their programs. Over ice cream, the farm bureau will discuss current events, future programs and opportunities, as well as other leadership and volunteer opportunities.

The bureau will answer questions about obtaining farm bureau signs for a property, how to contact the office and introduce county board members.
