Several shots were fired at two cars and a house on Youngstown’s West Side

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

Two cars and a house, with three children inside, on the city’s West Side were shot up by someone using an assault rifle, but no one was hit by any bullets, police said.

The intended target was a man parking in the driveway of 445 Imperial St., said Lt. Douglas Bobovnyik of the police detective bureau.

The incident happened at 12:40 a.m. Sunday. Imperial Street is off of Salt Springs Road.

The cars and the house were hit several times. Inside the house were five people, including three children, Bobovnyik said.

Also, the house just west of 445 Imperial St. was hit by a shot or two, he said.

“It wasn’t the target; it was collateral damage,” said Bobovnyik about the other house.

Police have some leads on this incident, he said.

No arrest was made as of late Sunday.
