YPD probes East Side slaying

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating the slaying of a man killed on the city’s East Side.

Police were called at 11:58 p.m. Saturday to McGuffey Road at Albert Street for a shooting.

Officers found a male dead of a gunshot wound to the head in the front passenger seat of a car, according to a police statement.

The homicide is related to a robbery, police said.

The suspect is unidentified, police said.

The department isn’t releasing the name of the victim pending notification to the next of kin.

This is the third homicide in the city this year. The other two happened on consecutive days — March 31 and April 1, both on the city’s South Side.
