Surprise party marks Riebes’ 50th anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN

Mr. and Mrs. George Riebe of Youngstown were honored with a surprise 50th wedding anniversary celebration May 10 at McMahon Hall in Canfield.

It was hosted by Diana Burns and Andrea Riebe.

Family members are Nicholina Riebe and Bret Woodcock of Youngstown; Diana and John Burns of Canfield; David and Erin Riebe of Charleston, W. Va.; Richard and Andrea Riebe of Boardman; Robert and Lori Zikovich of Sharpsville, Pa.; and six grandchildren.

The former JoAnn Zikovich married Mr. Riebe May 21, 1964, at the Mahoning County Courthouse.

Mr. Riebe retired in 1997 from Hynes Steel Inc. in Youngstown, where he was a crane operator.

Mrs. Riebe owned and operated JoAnn’s Beauty Salon in Austintown. She also worked as a kitchen supervisor for Highway Tabernacle in Austintown. She is retired.

The couple are members of Highway Tabernacle, where Mrs. Riebe is a Bible study teacher and has been a nursery room child-care volunteer for more than 30 years. Mr. Riebe is a kitchen worker, a videographer of services and a general handyman for the church. He is a member of Mahoning Valley Stamp Club, where he served as president, and is a U.S. Army veteran.
