A breakdown of United States casualties were:

1,465 killed

3,184 wounded

1,928 missing

26 captured

Of the total U.S. figure, 2,499 casualties, including 238 deaths, were from the airborne troops.

Utah Beach casualties: 197, including 60 missing.

U.S. 1st and 29th Divisions casualties: 2,000 at Omaha Beach.

The Allied casualties figures (estimated): 10,000, including 2,500 killed. By nationality, the figures are 2,700 British, 946 Canadians, and 6,603 Americans. Recent research by the U.S. National D-Day Memorial Foundation, however, has verified 2,499 American D-Day fatalities and 1,914 from the other Allied nations, a total of 4,413 dead.
