Authorities arrest Campbell man wanted for child sexual assault

CAMPBELL

Authorities from the U.S. Marshals Service, the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office and the Campbell Police Department arrested a Bright Street man Thursday afternoon after discovering he was wanted on three counts of sexual assault against a child under 13 in Worcester, Mass.

After his arrest, Jose Orozco was taken to Mahoning County jail. Orozco’s extradition hearing is scheduled for next week, said Dan Deville, a deputy U.S. marshal.

Deville added that the U.S. Marshals Service had information about where Orozco worked — a church in Campbell — but found only his wife, who also worked there. Marshals eventually located Orozco at his home and arrested him after some resistance about 2 p.m., according to a report.

The sexual-assault offense is from 2008 when Orozco lived in Massachusetts, Deville said, noting that Orozco, who is in his mid- to late 30s, has lived in Campbell for about five years.
