1989: District Justice Joseph Gabany presiding over a preliminary hearing in Mercer, Pa., for Grace L. Sykes, accused of practicing midwifery without a license, dismisses the charges, bringing cheers of approval from her 200 supporters, about half of whom were Amish.

1939: The Division Street Bridge which crosses the Mahoning River near the Brier Hill plant of Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. collapses. Three men who were on the bridge at the time were thrown into the river but survived.
