POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

May 12

Theft: A drawer, a coffee table, two women’s handbags and a coffee maker were among items stolen from a home in the 6300 block of Clingan Road.

May 13

Identity theft: A Hummingbird Hill Drive man discovered $199 worth of fraudulent activity to his credit card.

May 17

Arrest: Kenneth W. Tenney, 55, of Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, Poland, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired during a traffic stop on U.S. Route 224.

Theft: A full 5-gallon gas can and a lottery ticket were removed from a vehicle in the 4200 block of Arrel Road.

May 19

Harassment: An Autumnwood Trail woman said she’s been harassed.

BOARDMAN

May 17

Theft: A woman reported her wallet stolen while at a Boardman-Poland Road pizzeria.

Stolen property: Police at the Shops at Boardman Park picked up 45-year-old Carl Wallace of Idora Avenue, Youngstown, on a theft warrant. Wallace also was charged with receiving stolen property when, officers said, he had a book bag containing numerous items that had been stolen from Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Misuse of a credit card: A Sugarcane Drive man told authorities that after a caller claimed the accuser’s computer was infected with a virus, he noticed $249 worth of fraudulent activity on his credit-card statement.

Drugs: Anthony J. Quattro II of Renee Drive, Struthers, was charged with one felony count of trafficking in marijuana, two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one of operating a vehicle impaired after authorities pulled him over near Tippecanoe Road. Quattro, 19, had two mason jars with suspected marijuana, a bag of suspected marijuana that appeared to have been packaged for sale, two scales and a device commonly used to grind marijuana, a report said.

Theft: Julie A. Surgenavic, 36, of Brinton Street, and Earla D. Print, 42, of East Division Street, were charged. The two New Castle, Pa., women were accused of stealing clothing and other merchandise from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.

Fraud: An official with Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road, told police two people returned two electric toothbrushes, later determined to have been stolen, in exchange for about $210 worth of bedding items.

Theft: A Canfield woman reported her $689 iPhone missing while at a Boardman-Canfield Road restaurant.

Domestic violence: Matthew R. Kuti, 25, of Helena Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with the crime after police responded to a fight in the 4500 block of Waseka Lane, where his brother alleged Kuti had attacked him as the accuser stepped outside of the residence.

Breaking and entering: A side door to a home in the 700 block of Cheriwood Court was found open. Property stolen included a water tank and wooden planks.

May 18

Arrest: A traffic stop near Southern Boulevard resulted in 64-year-old Norma L. Bolina’s arrest. Bolina, of Everett Street, Youngstown, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.

Harassment: An Argyle Avenue woman said her daughter received a derogatory voicemail message.

Misuse of a credit card: A Mineral Ridge woman discovered $220 had been withdrawn from her account without authorization when she used an automated-teller machine in the township.

Animal cruelty: Police took custody of a German shepherd that was found locked in a room of a vacant Willow Drive apartment with no food or water.

Criminal damaging/aggravated menacing: A Lockwood Boulevard woman told police a spark plug was used to break her vehicle’s rear windshield, and alleged that her former boyfriend sent to her cellphone and posted on Facebook sexually explicit photographs of her.

Drugs: Authorities received information about a possible drug overdose at an Erskine Avenue home, then issued a summons charging 27-year-old John R. Clarke of Erskine, Boardman, with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. A needle and a spoon with burn marks typical in drug use were found, police said.

Criminal damaging: Someone drove through and damaged part of a lawn in the 400 block of Presidential Court. Damage came to $250.

Theft: A 20-inch girls bicycle was removed from a front porch in the 4500 block of Grover Drive.

May 19

Breaking and entering: Police discovered a rear window to a business in the 4700 block of Market Street open, though it appeared no one was inside and that nothing was missing.

Theft: A woman in the 7500 block of Market Street reported her $150 bicycle stolen.

Identity theft: A Glenwood Avenue woman discovered someone had used her information to make $1,963 worth of unauthorized online transfers.

Harassment: A South Avenue woman said a male customer in his 30s has been making one month’s worth of unwanted calls to her residence.

Theft: A worker for a South Avenue long-term health-care facility reported a fleece jacket and a cellphone charger stolen from a break room.

Theft: A man left Buffalo Wild Wings in Southern Park Mall without paying his $23.72 food bill.

Vandalism: A Pearson Circle man reported paint damage to his $18,000, 10-speed racing bike.

Theft: Lakisha D. Blackshear, 36, of South Whitney Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with stealing $242 worth of children’s clothing from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Menacing/criminal damaging: A Glendale Avenue woman reported damage to her car’s front fender and driver’s-side doors, and that she was threatened with bodily harm while in the 400 block of Presidential Court.

Identity fraud: A Hunters Cove Drive woman realized her credit information had been used to book a hotel room in Las Vegas.

Theft by deception: An administrator with Akron Children’s Hospital, 6505 Market St., told authorities a woman used an invalid employee number to make a purchase, costing the facility $21.40.

Theft: A Pierce Drive woman was notified of 13 unauthorized charges to her bank account that totaled about $717.

Harassment: A South Avenue man alleged his former landlord made a death threat via phone to him.

Trespassing: Officers responded to an unwanted person at Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road, where they charged Tabitha A. Kerr of Youngstown-Hubbard Road, Youngstown, with criminal trespassing. The 44-year-old woman had been warned to stay out of the store, a report showed.

May 20

Animal neglect: A cat was found abandoned at a vacant home in the 80 block of Lakeshore Drive before a humane agent with Animal Charity removed the animal.

Criminal damaging: Someone on Sharon Road placed sugar in a vehicle’s gas tank.

Domestic violence: Rocca H. Ford of Colleen Drive, Boardman, was charged with the crime after her boyfriend alleged Ford, 34, had pushed him and scratched his arms during an argument. The accuser had several small cuts.

Assault: An Alburn Drive woman alleged that as she returned home, her former boyfriend struck her face and repeatedly kicked her head.

Theft: Angelina L. Armes, 28, who listed addresses on South Avenue and Westchester Drive in Austintown, was taken into custody during a traffic stop on South Avenue. She was wanted on a felony-theft warrant.

Criminal damaging: A portion of downspouting was damaged at a residence in the 7400 block of Glenwood Avenue.

Theft: A man in a red T-shirt and baseball cap wearing a prosthetic leg reportedly was seen on a surveillance camera stealing merchandise from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave.

Drugs: Hillary H. Mason, 24, of Elruth Court, Girard, was taken into custody during a traffic stop near Indianola Road on a felony drug-abuse charge after authorities reported finding an unmarked bottle containing 14 pills, including acetaminophen, an analgesic prescription drug often used to treat headaches and arthritis.

Vandalism: A coin-operated meter and a change machine were damaged at Splash & Shine Car Wash, 2045 Country Club Drive.

Theft: Shahara E. Blair, 25, of Mary Street, Youngstown, was charged in the theft of 56 articles of clothing valued at $400 from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road.

Drug paraphernalia: A traffic stop near Southern Boulevard resulted in a citation against 30-year-old James C. Tribble of Sharon Drive, Boardman, after police alleged a pipe with suspected marijuana residue was found.

Theft: Deonazia M. Shuler, 18, of East Dewey Avenue, Youngstown, was charged in the theft of body lotion, toothpaste, undergarments and other merchandise from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Domestic violence: Anthony T. Cotton, 33, who gave addresses on Forest Park Drive and Roxbury Avenue in Youngstown, was charged after his girlfriend, of Boardman, alleged he had punched her several times in the head, scratched her face and pushed the accuser during an argument. Cotton also was wanted on a bench warrant charging contempt of court.

Theft: Frank J. Maggiano, 36, was taken into custody at Boardman Area Court on Market Street. Maggiano, of Elberen Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a warrant accusing him of stealing a $38 bottle of cognac from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.

May 21

Theft: Derrick G. McIntosh, 45, of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Youngstown, faced theft and criminal-trespassing charges after 23 packs of cigarettes were stolen from Walmart. McIntosh also had been issued a warning to stay off the property, a report said.
