Boys baseball victorious

The Poland boy baseball team recently defeated Niles with a score of 6-1. Ryan Burkett was the winning pitcher. Ricky Svetlak was 4-4 with a home run and three singles with three RBIs. Pat Carlozzi went 2-4 with a triple and Dom Lipari had a two run double.

Poland topples Girard

The Poland boys baseball team won an 8-0 non league game against Girard on May 16. Jared Burkert pitched for Poland in the win and went two innings, no hits. Pat Carlozzi had two doubles and three RBIs.

Boys baseball defeats Ravenna

The Poland boys baseball team recently claimed victory over Ravenna with a score of 2-0. The starting pitcher for Poland was Pat Carlozzi.

Duncan named All-OAC

Kenny Duncan of Poland, a financial economics and marketing major and student athlete at Capital University, was named 2014 Spring Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference as the league announced its honorees May 12. A total of 303 student athletes participating in baseball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s lacrosse, softball, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s track and field from the conference’s 10 institutions were recognized as Academic All-OAC award winners. Student athletes selected must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status on their team and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.495 on a 4.0 scale.

Fall sports parent meeting set

The Poland High School athletic department has announced a falls sports parent meeting for May 27 at 7 p.m. in the High School Auditorium. The meeting is mandatory for parents whose son or daughter is playing a middle school or high school fall sport. All parents should plan on attending as we will be discussing policies and procedures for the upcoming fall season.
