The Oakland Center for the Arts will launch its summer programming May 31 with a preview performance of its upcoming rock musical “BARE” at the inaugural Festival on Phelps.

The festival on North Phelps Street, north of Federal Street, will include entertainment and demonstrations and vendors.

On June 7, YOUnify, the Oakland’s LGBTQ youth program, will perform a snippet of an original piece at the Youngstown Gay Pride Festival on Central Square, followed by a full performance at the Oakland, 220 W. Boardman St., at 7 p.m.

After the performance, from 9 to 11 p.m., YOUnify will host Q-Prom for the area’s LGBTQ identifying youth.

The prom will be open to all youth age 13 to 18 and will feature DJ Doctor Goo and catering by Martini Bros. Burger Bar.

Admission to the prom is $3, (free to those who attend the YOUnify show).
