Neighbors | Submitted .The winners of the Women's Masters run at the the Austintown Lions Club's 5K were Renay Choma of Austintown with a time of 24:38 in first place, Renee Bodden of Canfield finishing second with a time of 25:44 and Diane Downey of Southington in third place with a time of 26:00.

On May 10, the Austintown Lions Club hosted its 19th annual 5-k run at Austintown Township Park with Lion Larry Jensen serving as race chairman. The finish line was provided by the Youngstown Road Runners Club and Spitzer Chevrolet of North Jackson was the major sponsor.

The winner of the children’s race was 8-year-old Aydan Rusu of Struthers. The overall winner for the 5K was Tom Grantonic of Boardman with a time of 17:55. Coming in second place was Don Peace of Canfield with a time of 19:30 and finishing third was Everett Briggs of Youngstown with a time of 19:49.

For the women, it was Gianna Stanich of Poland with a time of 20:23 followed by Lucy Baer of Leetonia in second place with a time of 23:25 and in third place was Jaclynn Choma from Austintown with a time of 23:34.

For the men’s masters [40 years of age or older], coming in first place was Joe Vanek of Petersburg with a time of 19:55 followed by Mike Smith of Salem in second place with a time of 20:55, and Steve Hoffmaster of Poland in third place with a time of 21:10.

For the women’s masters, it was Renay Choma of Austintown with a time of 24:38 in first place with Renee Bodden of Canfield finishing second with a time of 25:44 and Diane Downey of Southington in third place with a time of 26:00.

All winners received special awards. Door prizes were also drawn.
