Festival run to be June 5

Runners and fitness joggers, take note of the annual Immaculate Heart of Mary festival 5K fun run, which will take place June 5 at 7 p.m.

There will be a short 1/4 mile childrens run that will start a few minutes before the 5K. Entry forms can be printed at www.ihmfestival5k.webs.com. The run will start in front of the school, located at 4490 Norquest Blvd. in Austintown.

The advance entry fee is $13 and the race day entry is $15. There is no entry fee for the childrens run. There will be race day registration beginning at 5 p.m. in front of the school.

Volleyball camps to be in June

The Austintown Fitch volleyball team will be hosting a fifth- and sixth-grade volleyball camp June 12 and 13 and a seventh- and eighth-grade volleyball camp June 18-20.

Fitch basketball to host golf outing

The Austintown Fitch boys’ basketball program will be hosting a golf outing on Aug. 2 at the Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course in Lake Milton.

There will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. It will be a four-person Scramble. The cost of the event is $65 per person or $260 per team.

The entry fee will include the 18-hole green fee with a riding cart, food and beverage. Those that pre-register by July 1 will also receive nine free holes of golf. The cost to sponsor the event is $100 per hole. All proceeds for this event benefit the Austintown Fitch boys’ basketball program.

It’s spring sports season. Neighbors wants to be there every step of the way. If you’re a spring sports coach or the parent of an athlete, we need you help. In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages. We can only do that if you commit to sending us game reports and photos each week. If you send it, it will get in.

The sports news we’re looking for ranges from varsity high school teams down to middle school and even elementary and recreational leagues.
